Camera Port Rings, required to install your CCD or 35mm imaging camera to the Targetron. Optional camera port rings are available for any CCD or 35mm camera on the market. Most of them are listed at the CAMERA PORT RINGS link above right. If you don't find your specific camera port ring, call VSI and we'll custom machine one for you. Interchangeable port rings provide the use of multiple scopes and cameras utilizing one Targetron basic unit. Most current CCD and 35mm cameras use the industry-standard 42mm-0.75mm T-thread. There are some exceptions, like the new SBIG STL11000 CCD camera. VSI offers a special camera port ring specifically for this new larger than 2" format SBIG camera. Pictured at right is a representation of what you receive when you purchase a specific camera port ring for your imaging camera.

Reverse Port Rings are the reverse thread (male or female) to its matching counterpart - Docking Port Rings. They are inserted in the Targetron's rear camera port to continue your imaging train using the same large-format threaded coupling as the input before the Targetron. You can then install a focal reducer, that needs a preset distance between itself and your camera, after the Targetron, etc. You could even install one of our MicroGlide Focusers on the output of the Targetron creating a secondary auto-focuser, without the hassle of modifying your scope's existing primary focuser. Just dock an auto-focus Epsilon or Omicron focuser to the output camera port of the Targetron and you're instantly auto-focusing your CCD camera.

1.25" to 1.25" Drawtube, usually required to perform off-axis guiding with the Targetron when using a 35mm camera in the output port. 35mm cameras typically focus about an inch and a half back compared to eyepieces and CCD cameras. Therefore you must extend the pick-off port the extra distance to parfocus your eyepiece with your 35mm camera. You may also need one or two of these drawtubes if you are going to install a MicroGlide focuser on the output port of the Targetron (see FEATURES link for more on this special installation). You can also use your existing 1.25" diagonal(s) to extend your guiding eyepieces or cameras. consumePictured at right is what you receive when you purchase the Drawtube.
