Optical Manifold Specifications & Features: Slider 2

SLIDER 2 Optical Manifold

SKY & TELESCOPE Test Report (July 2002)

The above Slider 2 optical manifold now incorporates a built-in, 360 degree radius, externally adjustable pick-off mirror, in it's 1.25" side pick-off port, that accommodates standard 1.25" guiding eyepieces and autoguiding CCD cameras. Slide mirror position is conveniently controlled with the Slider push-pull rod located on the end of the housing (see picture far above, center). The Slider 2's adjustable pick-off mirror controls are located on the left (see above right picture, vertical lever and black knob). The vertical lever controls the Y-axis rotation of the pick-off mirror and the black knob controls the X-axis angle of the pick-off mirror. Yes, that's right! Full 360 degree radius positioning of your guide star, by simply turning a knob and moving a lever - light-years beyond any other optical manifold on the market. And both X and Y axis controls have locks. Note the brass knurled lock nut above for the X-axis lock, and the black lock knob under the side pick-off port tube for the Y-axis lock. A spring loaded ball plunger (behind the side port tube, not shown) provides rock-solid pick-off mirror stabilization during guide star acquisition - no mirror wiggles. With the new top port collimation system, Slider 2s now have TWO full-360 degree radius adjustable ports. Standard drawtubes, adapters and couplings are available at the ADAPTERS link.
